http://deadtimes.bandcamp.comE/S: Where are you Originally from, and how does the Austin hardcore scene compare?Dom: I'm from Austin, but I grew up in Upstate NY. There's so much tradition and unity there. It's hard to compare to anywhere else, but Austin has a good scene, and luckily, there are some awesome bands going right now that are really bringing it to the next level. It seems like the last 1-2 years in Austin has seen a huge increase in the quantity and quality of shows.
When and where was the demo recorded?We recorded with Wade of Drawback at Wade's World during the last part of March. He is definitely on the up and up. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for quality recording at a great price.
What's the writing process like for you, and who do you draw influence from?I usually work on an idea at home to get an initial structure together. I'll then bring that to practice to jam with the other guys. Luckily, the other guys in the band are talented musicians, so we are able to finalize the song then it's practice, practice, practice. I draw influences from all over. I love melodic stuff ranging from Joshua Fit For Battle to Bane.

To finish this up, what's planned for Dead Times in the near future?We plan on releasing the demo and playing a bunch of regional shows to promote it. We have weekends with Austin's Divide and Cali's Strike to Survive planned.

AUSTIN HARDCORE ON THE UPS!
So I may not update this blog as often as I'd like, but I'm working on it. Things have been bumpy the last couple of years, but I'm still afloat. E/S is still kicking. So for those of you who crave more shit to read while shitting or sitting in your office, you can now follow my shenanigans on Twitter. Ex-VA homies and current Austin hardcore band, Cutting Losses have offered up their last two recordings as free downloads. Their demo originally dropped in 2008, and last year, they released a cassette EP called Convictions. They've completed the recording of their new 7" which will be announced sooner than not. The songs from the new 7" were recorded at Wade's World, the same place the Dead Times demo was recorded. Darin [One Against Many, Eleventh Hour, 1066] and I can be heard on the record along with other Austin dudes. Speaking of Eleventh Hour, they recently got some love from the xSTUCK IN THE PASTx crew. Darin's label, Metastasis Records, will be releasing this record. New songs from several bands including Cutting Losses, One Against Many and Losing Grip will be on an Austin Hardcore compilation that should be out around October through Metastasis as well.
